The Wayne Historical Preservation Society
is again proud to be a contributor to a major museum exhibit---this time at the DuPage County Historical Museum in Wheaton.
Previously, we were able to provide some Dunham/Ward artifacts connected to the American Civil War for an exhibit at the Civil War Museum in Kenosha Wisconsin.
In this current exhibit highlighting authors of DuPage County, the WHPS loaned several books written and autographed by former Wayne resident, Marguerite Henry, a postcard "signed" with a hoofprint of Misty , a small figurine of Brighty , and a short video that Marguerite made describing her method of research and writing. All items, as well as others that were not used for the exhibit, were donated to the Preservation Society by Marguerite's young-at-the-time next door neighbor in Wayne, Carrie Williams (Jenkins).
The exhibit runs through March of 2023 and features many authors you will be surprised to find out were/are from DuPage County. We won't spoil your fun of finding out by naming them here!
When you go, make sure you sign the guest book and proudly state you are from Wayne, where Marguerite wrote her most famous book: MISTY of Chincoteague.
